Step by Step How to Make Lasagna

Step 1: Prepare the Noodles

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook lasagna noodles until al dente according to package instructions. Drain and lay them flat to prevent sticking.

Step 2: Make the Meat Sauce

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onions and cook until softened. Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add ground beef and Italian sausage. Cook until browned and fully cooked.

Mix in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, basil, salt, pepper, and sugar. Simmer for 20โ€“25 minutes until thick and flavorful.

Step 3: Prepare the Cheese Mixture

In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, mozzarella, Parmesan, and parsley. Stir until creamy and fully mixed.

Step 4: Assemble the Lasagna

Preheat oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC).

Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Layer in this order:

  1. Lasagna noodles
  2. Ricotta cheese mixture
  3. Meat sauce
  4. Mozzarella cheese

Repeat layers 3 times.

Finish with noodles, sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan on top.

Step 5: Bake

Cover the dish with foil and bake for 40 minutes.

Remove foil and bake another 15โ€“20 minutes until the cheese becomes golden and bubbly.

Step 6: Rest Before Serving

Allow the lasagna to rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing. This helps the layers stay firm and prevents watery servings.
