Home Made Hummus Recipe

Hummus is a popular Middle Eastern dip and spread made primarily from chickpeas, blended with tahini (sesame paste), lemon juice, garlic, and olive oil. Its origins trace back to regions of the Levant, where it has been a staple food for centuries. Today, hummus is enjoyed worldwide for its creamy texture, rich flavor, and nutritional benefits.

Traditionally, cooked chickpeas are mashed or blended until smooth, then combined with tahini and other ingredients to create a balanced tasteโ€”nutty, tangy, and slightly savory. It is commonly served as part of a mezze platter alongside pita bread, fresh vegetables, or other small dishes. In many cultures, hummus is more than just food; it represents hospitality and communal dining.

Nutritionally, hummus is valued for being high in plant-based protein, dietary fiber, and healthy fats. It is especially popular among vegetarians and vegans as a nutritious alternative to dairy-based dips. Additionally, it contains important vitamins and minerals such as iron, folate, and magnesium.

In recent years, hummus has evolved with many modern variations, including flavors like roasted red pepper, beetroot, and spicy chili. Despite these innovations, the classic version remains a beloved and versatile dish enjoyed across the globe.
