Slang has been around for a long time, but due to the popularity of the internet, it appears that there are more than ever. With the rise of social media platforms like TikTok, new lingo words are sprouting up left, right, and center online at a rapid pace.
The term “glizzy” is a great example, and while the word existed before this year, it has been used online a lot more in recent months.
What Does Glizzy Mean?
The word Glizzy is most often used to refer to a hotdog sausage, but it can also be used to describe a glock or gun. However, the majority of TikTok videos that use the term Glizzy are not referring to a glock.
A viral video under the hashtag Glizzy depicts a guy catching a hotdog, or a “Glizzy,” in his mouth as it flies across the room. Several individuals attempt to catch hotdogs in their mouths in another, which has over two million views.
Glizzy Hashtag On TikTok
Over 700 million people have watched the Glizzy hashtag on TikTok, and the hashtag Glizzy Gobbler has over 200 million views. The term “Glizzy Gobbler” is used to mean someone who eats a lot of hotdogs, or eats them in a particularly aggressive way.
According to Junkee, the jargon term was even used by ESPN when they called Joey Chestnut, a competitive eater, the “Glizzy Gladiator” for eating an astonishing 75 hotdogs in ten minutes during the 2020 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest.
