Couple divorced in 1979 and his ex-wife Jonnetta tied knot with Terry Patton two years later. Jonnetta and Terry celebrated the 1984 birth of their son, James Lackey.

The singer explained in an interview that his father needed a liver transplant while he was in the hospital. His friend Nelly advised him to reconcile with his father, so Usher agreed to pay for the procedure. Unfortunately, Raymond fell into a coma and Usher had to make a tough decision.

Usher became a father for the first time in November 2007 when his son Usher ‘Cinco’ Raymond V was born. He then had another son named Naviyd Ely in December 2008.
In September 2020, he welcomed a daughter named Sovereign Bo and in September 2021, he had a son named Sire Castrello with his girlfriend Jenn Goicoechea.
