Renee Scott is the mother of WNBA All-Star Skylar Diggins-Smith. She is a businesswoman, philanthropist, and former professional basketball player. Renee was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She played basketball at the collegiate level and was drafted by the New York Liberty in the 2001 WNBA Draft. She played professionally for three years before retiring to focus on her family.

Renee is the CEO of The RGDS Group, a holding company that invests in businesses across multiple industries. She is also the founder of The Skylar Diggins Foundation, which provides scholarships to young women who want to pursue their dreams of playing college basketball.

Renee is a powerful advocate for women in business and sports. She has been featured in Forbes, Essence, and Sports Illustrated. She is a member of the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame Board of Directors and the WNBA Inaugural class of 20 Under 40.

Skylar Diggins-Smith Career Explored

In the 2013 WNBA Draft, Diggins was drafted 3rd overall by the Tulsa Shock. Diggins-Smith was four-year varsity basketball letter winner at Washington High School in South Bend, where the Panthers had a combined record of 102–7. After graduating as the No. 3 scorer in Indiana history with 2,790 points on average 25.9 points per game, Kisha Diggins-Smith took her Panthers to state championship games and finished her career with two state crowns. Diggins-Smith won the 2014 WNBA Most Improved Player Award.

She was selected as a WBCA All-American, McDonald’s All-American, and Miss Indiana Basketball. She earned national accolades including the Naismith Prep Player of the Year, Gatorade National Player of the Year, Gatorade Female Athlete of the Year, and Miss Indiana Basketball. Diggins-Smith was named a WBCA All-American as well as a McDonald’s All-America choice.

As a senior, she was named to the Parade All-America team and participated in the WBCA High School All-America Game, where she scored 24 points. In addition to basketball, she played volleyball and excelled academically, earning High Academic Honors as a senior and being part of National Honor Society. She was featured in Sports Illustrated’s Faces in the Crowd segment on March 30, 2009. After visiting Notre Dame University, Diggins-Smith made friends with Stanford alumnus Candice Wiggins.
