Following the conclusion of Dead to Me season two, we are all in need of a gin and a nap. The Netflix black comedy, which quickly established itself as one of 2019’s most popular debuts, returned for its second outing last year, providing Uncut Gems a run for its money when it comes to stress.

Season three has been given the thumbs-up – but it’s a bit of a mixed bag. It’ll be the show’s final batch of episodes.

“I will miss these ladies,” wrote Christina Applegate (Jen) on Twitter. “But we felt this was the best way to tie up the story of these women. Thank you to all the fans. We will be getting back to work when it is safe to do so. Much love.”

In an interview with Gold Derby, Feldman said it was “difficult to decide” to end his series.

“But I knew from the beginning, from the moment I pitched the show, that it wasn’t gonna be a five or six season show. I knew that it needed to be a shorter run.”

So, what can we anticipate from the last hoorah? Here’s everything you need to know about Dead to Me season three.

Dead to Me Season 3 Release Date

The first two seasons arrived in early May 2019 and 2020, but the third chapter will not adhere to that timetable. They’re excused given what’s occurred since then.

Chatting to THR, showrunner Liz Feldman said: “This season we have a 20-week writers room, so there’s no way we could go into production until that’s over anyway… There’s no way we’d even try to be back in production until, the earliest, December.”

Of course, there have been additional problems for the crew since then. Shooting can be stopped for a long period of time for frustrating (but completely understandable) reasons. Applegate announced her multiple sclerosis diagnosis on Twitter in August 2021.

“Hi friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS. It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition. It’s been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some asshole blocks it.”

“As one of my friends that has MS said ‘we wake up and take the indicated action’. And that’s what I do. So now I ask for privacy. As I go through this thing. Thank you.”

The Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik is planning on releasing a book chronicling her life with Asperger’s syndrome.

“We love and support Christina and respect her privacy as she takes the time and space she needs in this moment,” the statement said.

Her co-star, James Marsden, spoke warmly of Applegate, and the strength she’s demonstrated following her diagnosis.

Dead to Me season 3 Cast & Crew

Without Christina Applegate as Jen and Linda Cardellini as Judy, the show would not be the same. They’ll both be back no matter how.

Then there’s Jen’s children Charlie (Sam McCarthy) and Henry (Luke Roessler), police detective Ana Perez (Diana-Maria Riva), Nick (Brandon Scott) – the police officer who Judy used to date – Jen’s orange wine-loving neighbor Karen (Suzy Nakamura), Jen’s friend and former real estate partner Christopher (Max Jenkins), Pastor Wayne (Keong Sim), grief support leader, and Steve’s semi-identical twin brother Ben, portrayed by James Marsden.

According to THR, Feldman said that “it was not part of the plan” to bring Marsden back, adding: “It was out of his desire to return and our shared affection for him. You try to keep a good thing going by bringing in a twin; it’s something we all love.”

Dead to Me season 3 plot and spoilers explored

The pair are followed wherever Jen and Judy go, or is it the other way around? The duo was involved in a car accident at the conclusion of season two when Ben, who was three sheets to the wind, slammed into them, causing Charlie’s new automobile to be destroyed.

Riverdale season 6 is not coming to Netflix in December 2021

Judy appeared to be in better condition than Jen, who had been sitting on the vehicle’s passenger side when Ben rammed into it. After Ben drove off rapidly, Judy didn’t see that it was him behind the wheel, opening up a whole new can of problems.

Season three will most likely repeat the structure of season one, picking up where we left off with Jen and Judy in a major muddle and Ben frantically attempting to get rid of his car while pretending that he was somewhere else.
