Rafael Nadal has confirmed that his wife, Mery Perello, is expecting their first child. The tennis star confirmed the news at a press conference in Mallorca on Friday, weeks after rumors circulated that she was pregnant. “I’m going to be a father,” said Nadal, who will compete at Wimbledon for the first time in three years later this month.
‘I’m not used to talking about my private life. We live calmer with a lower profile. I don’t expect that my life will change much with it.’ According to the Spanish tabloids, Mery is expecting their first child, according to magazine Hola! On board the yacht where they’re on vacation now, the beauty was displaying what appeared to be a baby bump beneath her swimsuit.

Mery, also known as Xisca, gave up an insurance job to take on a bigger role at the Rafael Nadal Foundation, which he started in 1998. She’s quite reclusive and well-known for being so private. Real Madrid player Gareth Bale got married at La Fortaleza overlooking the bay of Pollensa in north-east Majorca in June 2019 as part of a three-day celebration, tying the knot with Emma Rhys-Jones.

The original fort, which is now Spain’s most expensive home, was erected in 1628 to defend Majorca against attackers. Rafael announced his engagement to Mery, whom he had been dating for almost 14 years, in January 2019.
