Kio Cyr may not understand his fame, but that’s ok—the star’s millions of fans totally get it. The 19-year-old rose to the top of the TikTok ranks with his striking good looks, but his time in the social media spotlight hasn’t been without some ugly drama. The Sway House member got into a pretty controversial situation that got him dragged all over the Internet earlier this year, but the Tiktoker doesn’t seem to let it phase him. Here’s everything you need to know about TikTok star Kio Cyr.
He’s one of the only Canadians in a TikTok House
Kio was born on September 5, 2000, in British Columbia. So far, he and fellow Sway House member Josh Richards are the only Canadians that are part of a major TikTok house.
He’s part Thai
In the first Q&A video on his YouTube channel, Kio said his mom is Thai, and his dad is French Canadian. The star once featured his mom on his TikTok, but she didn’t seem impressed with his humor.
He’s CEO of “the Look”
Kio told HollyWire that his signature head-turning glance—aka “the look”—is the reason for his viral success. We can’t quite pinpoint what makes the look feel so special, but whatever it is has millions of fans swooning.
He gave us the key to his heart
In that first Q&A on his channel, Kio basically gives fans his idea of the perfect date: he wants to see his favorite movie ,Cars, at a drive-in theater. If you ever find yourself on a date with Kio, follow these instructions and be prepared for him to fall in love with you right then and there.
He likes giving shoutouts to his fans
Kio has two Instagram Stories dedicated to his fans. One is for fan art of him and the other is for funny fan edits.
His merch is pretty adorable
Kio’s brand, Lacuna Apparel, has the ~cutest~ bear on its logo. Right now, you can buy hoodies and t-shirts that feature the designs.
There was some drama with the n-word
In a live post, Kio sang along to a song where viewers accused him of saying the racial slur. Kio laughed off accusations saying, “You know what? It’s a song, OK.” Many people thought Kio’s response confirmed that he actually said the word, but fans rushed to his defense, saying that the star only smiled through the lyric.
In the Q&A Kio did with Olivia, she went out of her way to say that they didn’t meet when she was underage. “I’m not 15! That was a lie, he does not do that stuff,” she said. “Y’all are just tripping about it. I have gone through his phone, he does not talk to 15 year olds.”
Kio has been pretty quiet about the whole thing and hasn’t given an official statement.
