John Kenneth was best known as the dad of Liz Truss, who is one of the two remaining candidates in the 2022 Conservative Party leadership election. She received the second-highest number of votes from Conservative MPs, behind Rishi Sunak. According to data analytics firm YouGov, Truss is the frontrunner in the race. Who Is John Kenneth, Liz Truss’s Dad?

John Kenneth Truss was the father of Liz Truss, the current Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Board of Trade in the UK government. He was born in 1935 in Yorkshire, and worked as a civil engineer. He died in 2016. Liz Truss’s father was a civil engineer who worked on some of the most iconic bridges in Britain, including the Humber Bridge. He was also a keen amateur photographer, and many of his photographs were used to promote the Yorkshire region.

After he retired, Mr Truss became a director of a company that made climbing equipment, and he spent much of his time travelling around the world to visit different climbing sites. He was also a member of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, and was passionate about protecting the environment.

Who was the wife of John Kenneth? He was married with his wife, Priscilla Mary Truss. Moreover, couple moved to Scotland when she was four years old. Truss attended West Primary School in Paisley, Renfrewshire.

From 1996 to 2000, Truss worked for Shell as a graduate, eventually becoming a Chartered Management Accountant ACMA in 1999 and then an economic director at Cable & Wireless (2000-05). From 1998 to 2000, she was the chair of the Lewisham Deptford Conservative Association.

Truss was a candidate in the Greenwich London Borough Council elections in 1998 (for Vanbrugh ward) and 2002 (in Blackheath Westcombe). She was voted into office as a councillor for Eltham South in Greenwich in 2006, but she resigned before the end of her term of office in 2010.

Truss declared that she could be a candidate for the leadership of the Conservative Party to succeed May, in 2019. She called on Russia to intervene in the Belarus–European Union border crisis, in 2021. Truss is known for her economic libertarian views and support for free trade. She has also suggested that Britain should not ignore the history of the British Empire. Moreover, her net worth is estimated around $4 million, as of 2022.
