Janet Talfan Davies was married with Barry John who played in 25 rugby internationals for Wales and five Tests for the Lions. He has died on 4 February 2024 in hospital aged 79 with his family paying tribute. Couple married in September 1969.

Janet Talfan Davies is the daughter of Alun Talfan Davies QC, a leading Welsh lawyer. Couple has four children together named, Kathryn, Lucy, Anna and David and as of 2016, eleven grandchildren, named, Emily, Rebecca, Sam, Tom, Ben, Anna, Edward, Will, Gwen, Ella and Charlotte. Janet Keeps Her Life Private

Janet and Barry weren’t seen together in public very often, but if you search online, you’ll find only a handful of pictures showing them together. These pictures are either from their wedding or after John returned from his tour in New Zealand in the 1970s.

Who Was Barry John?

Barry John was a retired Rugby star passed away and the specific reason for his death has not been disclosed by his family. John had a further four siblings, Alan, Clive, Madora and Diane. All three of his brothers played rugby.

He had been dealing with various health issues, one of which was related to alcohol. John’s name made headlines due to a drink-driving incident he was involved in. He lost his driving licence twice due to alcohol.

Prior to retiring at a young age of 27, he was part of the successful Wales squad that achieved significant victories including three Five Nations titles, a Grand Slam, and two Triple Crowns.

In 1971, John played exceptionally well in a historic win against the All Blacks, earning him the nickname “The King” from his team. John ran a Chinese restaurant near Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium, in 2021.
