The brothers with the greatest willpower refuse to give in to their circumstances and set out on a mission to cure their bodies by finding the Philosopher’s Stone. The Philosopher’s Stone is a powerful diamond that allows an alchemist to break the fundamental rules of Alchemy. Watch Guide

Given that Fullmetal Alchemist has two series, both of which are well-known, there are many options for finishing the series. It is up to your own personal preferences if you want to watch only one out of Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, but we suggest watching the latter as it closely follows the manga’s events than the original does.

Although the characters in Fullmetal Alchemist are all loosely based on historical figures, they bear little resemblance to the actual people. For example, while Edward Elric’s mother is named Winry Rockbell and his father was a State Alchemist without knowledge of alchemy, Jovian Rockbell was actually Ed’s twin brother who died before he was born due to a miscarriage caused by amnesia.

When you’re done with this article, we recommend that you read it again from beginning to end; then watch the anime series in its entirety; then watch the movies one after another as suggested above; and then read it one more time. In the order in which you should watch the OVAs, after Brotherhood is Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Special: The Blind Alchemist, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Special: Simple People, and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Special: The Tale of Teacher.
