Harry Letterman was a florist. He was born on April 15, 1915. At the age of 58, he died on February 13, 1973. He tied knot with Dorothy Marie Letterman Mengering.

His wife Dorothy (née Hofert; July 18, 1921 – April 11, 2017), a church secretary for the Second Presbyterian Church of Indianapolis, was an occasional figure on Letterman’s show, usually at holidays and birthdays.

Harry Letterman’s Son David Letterman

Harry Letterman’s son David Letterman picked up in his father’s footsteps and became a successful television host, comedian, writer and producer. With his own late-night talk show, David Letterman entertained audiences for over three decades, confirming his place as one of the most iconic figures in television history.

His son, David was raised in the Broad Ripple neighborhood of north central Indianapolis, just 12 miles (19 km) from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He liked to collect model automobiles, especially race cars.

Growing up, Letterman lived in constant terror of losing his father. At the age of 57, the elder Letterman passed away in 1973 from a second heart attack.
