David Holmgren is an Australian environmental designer, ecological educator and writer. He is best known as one of the co-originators of the permaculture concept with Bill Mollison. David Holmgren Career Explored

In 1974, Bill Mollison spoke at a seminar at the Department of Environmental Design, and it was during this time that Holmgren first met him. This led to an intensive working relationship of three years with Holmgren and Mollison sharing a home and garden, putting theories into practice, and collecting valuable plant species.

I then gave the book to Mollison to edit and add to before it was published in 1978.”

Permaculture ideas and methods were likewise strongly influenced by Haikai Tane, as well as the research of P. A. Yeomans, Franklin Hiram King, Howard T. Odum, and Albert Howard.
