Scully began his career as a student radio and newspaper journalist at Fordham University, where he concentrated in English. Scully moved to Southern California with the Dodgers in the 1958 season and was quickly embraced by locals. Scully’s final regular season game telecast from Dodger Stadium took place on September 25, 2016. From 1975 to 1982, Scully hosted National Football League telecasts for CBS Sports. Scully decided to leave CBS in order to work as a baseball announcer for NBC after more than three decades with the network.
