Irène Denis, a secretary from Paris and rose to fame after marrying with Michel Jazy, a French former runner who was a national championship holder. He achieved numerous world records in various middle-distance running events. He set a world record in the mile once and in the 2000 and 3000 meters twice.

Michel Jazy is a French national who was born on 13 June 1936 in Oignies, France. At the age of 87, he passed away on 1 February 2024 at the Hospital Center De Dax – Côte D’argent in Dax, France. He had a height of 1.75 m (5 ft 9 in) and weighed approximately 65 kg (143 lb; 10 st 3 lb).

His personal best time in the 1500 metres, which he set in 1956 during his first Olympic Games in Melbourne, was 3:50.0, yet it was insufficient to go to the final. He was still happy with those Games because he was chosen to have a room with the renowned Alain Mimoun. For Jazy, it was a moment that changed his life.
“I came to realize down there in Melbourne what glory was and what sacrifices were necessary in the years ahead to obtain it. Alain Mimoun opened my eyes to what I needed to do. I became hungry. I had got the message.”
He won three national cross-country titles and nine national track titles between 1956 and 1966: two over 800 metres, six over 1500 metres, and one over 5000 metres. In 1960, 1962, and 1965, he was selected as the French L’Équipe Champion of Champions. On November 4, 2004, he received the inaugural Trophée Micheline Ostermeyer.
