Born on April 1, 1945, in Novo Mesto, Slovenia, Amalija Knavs originally from Juta village near Radeče. Her mother’s name was Marija Francetič who worked as a patternmaker at a clothing factory and her father’s name was Viktor Knavs who was a car mechanic. She has an elder sister named Irene and two younger brothers named Leonid and Anton. She belongs to White ethnicity while Aries is her zodiac sign.
She studied design and patternmaking at the Secondary School of Design and Photography in Ljubljana. In the early 1960s, she started her modeling career in Milan and Paris. Later, she came to New York City in 1996.
