Jasmine Burkitt Career Explored
Burkitt’s life was documented over a year in Smaller World, Bigger World, which aired in July 2010. Burkitt celebrated her 16th birthday while traveling to New York and attempting to contact her birth father. She also described being bullied at school and falling after a boy tossed her into the air. While living in Colwyn Bay, north Wales, as a registered carer for her 3’7 mother Bev, who suffered lung and breathing difficulties and died in 2014, Burkitt appeared on the show.
Both had a kind of dwarfism that went undiagnosed and for which no cause could be found. Last year, Burkitt and her partner were homeless after being unable to find housing on the council. On social media, they shared their experiences camping in Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire, with their canine Loki.
Burkitt, a talented photographer, noted that their camping existence was ‘enchanted’. She continued: ‘I believe tent life has helped us and made us. Of course, there are disadvantages; I am somewhat more vulnerable to my medical history because of it.’
‘Some of the days over the summer living next to a river are some of the happiest I’ve ever spent. I like being away from people quite a lot and just being amongst nature.’
Burkitt revealed in an Instagram post in January that she’d been hospitalised for both her physical and mental health, but she was looking forward to rejoining Lewis and their dog. They had recently purchased a caravan and intended to convert it into a house.
