Kenan Thompson has officially filed for divorce. TMZ obtained documents showing that Kenan Thompson filed papers to terminate his marriage of 11 years to Christina Evangeline in May. Moreover, the sealed filing includes a request for a 50/50 custody split for daughters Georgia Marie, 7, and Gianna Michelle, 3. TMZ was also first to report news in April that the pair had split.
According to one source, Thompson, 43, and Evangeline, 33, separated close to a year ago; however they did not file papers at the time. In 2011, the pair wed at the Georgia Aquarium. “Kids are hysterical,” he added. “They say the most hilarious things, but that’s because they don’t understand what they’re talking about, and it adds to the humor.” Despite Thompson’s fame, his relationship with Evangeline has remained private.
Even Kenan, a show that fictionalized his life, made him a widower a storyline point that Thompson joked Evangeline didn’t care about. He admitted, “She was like, ‘Oh, so I’m dead?’ But, I mean, she was just being difficult for the sake of it. “But I replied,’Yes…you know what I’m talking about. Thompson married model Christina Evangeline on November 11, 2011. Together, they have two daughters, born in June 2014, and August 2018. On April 7, 2022, it was announced that the two had been separated for over a year, but they remain coparenting their two daughters.
The pair dated for three years before tying the knot at Georgia’s Aquarium in Atlanta in November 2011. The pair got married for three years before having Georgia in 2014 and Gianna in 2018. Even flying back to Saturday Night Live a day after his wedding, the Kenan star has previously gushed about his “big happy family,” implying that he considers his new spouse to be part of it.
“We wanted to get married and we wanted to start a family and keep a family,” the Ohio native told Fatherly in February 2021. ”That’s probably what drives me to work like such a maniac.”

Evangeline Lilly discussed her family on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Her mother, also named Evangeline, was born in Australia and fled the country as a teenager when she became involved in a gang that her father had been part of. When Georgia joined Thompson as a guest judge on America’s Got Talent in 2020, Evangeline said that she was “proud.”
Whatever their relationship status is, parents will always be present in their children’s lives. When asked about her family, Evangeline has remained quiet. It was impossible to avoid talking about the birth of her second daughter when it emerged.
“I’m usually private when it comes to these personal things, but we have less than 5 days until this little girl is due and I am just TEW excited,” she posted via Instagram in July 2018.
“I’ve always had a really hard time processing things like this lol I didn’t even know that this was happening until texts started coming in but Georgia’s the best with it,” Evangeline shared at the time. “Mommy, did you see me steal the show? Always, Girl.”
