Gypsy Rose stabbed ‘Dee Dee’ to death in her Missouri home in 2015 and sent to prison for the murder of her mother, Dee. For years, she allegedly abused her daughter and kept her sick. In 2015, Gipsy Blanchard and her partner, Nicholas Godejohn were taken into custody in connection with the stabbing death of “Dee Dee” Blanchard who was discovered in her Springfield home. Gipsy Blanchard received a 10-year sentence after entering a guilty plea to second-degree murder.

“Dee Dee” Blanchard allegedly lied about Gypsy’s age, making her daughter pass herself off as younger and pretend to be disabled and chronically ill, subjecting her to unnecessary surgery and medication and controlling her through physical and psychological abuse.

According to Gipsy Blanchard, her mother became increasingly domineering as she grew older, and she kept Gipsy weak, alone, and reliant on her. In 2017, Gypsy Blanchard told ABC News’ “20/20”,

“She physically chained me to the bed and put bells on the doors and told … anybody that I probably would’ve trusted that I was going through a phase and to tell her if I was doing anything behind her back.”

Gipsy wanted her mother dead and said,

“got jealous, because I was spending a little too much attention on him, and she had ordered me to stay away from him. because I wanted to escape her.”

Talking about her boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. Gipsy Rose completed eight of a ten-year term after entering a guilty plea to second-degree murder and on September 28, 2023, she was released.
