Emily Burge: Keagan Kirkby’s Girlfriend

Emily Burge is the girlfriend of late jockey Keagan Kirby, 25, fell from his horse in the last race of the day, on 5 February 2024. Being a skilled horseman, he was a highly regarded character in Nicholls’s Ditcheat Stables. He died regardless of urgent medical assistance and an air ambulance. Racers from all around have been devastated by this tragedy. Emily said in an interview with Daily Mail,

‘They thought he was winded but when I got there they had put green screens around him. He was not conscious but I told him I loved him before he was declared dead. He died doing something he loved.’

Emily Burge and Keagan Kirkby First Met

Emily is a professional groom and Keagan planned their future after meeting on a blind date in August 2023. They planned a Lake District vacation for Emily’s birthday in May before house-hunting for their first home. As in 2024, Emily is 21 years old.

Who Was Keagan Kirkby?

Keagan had been working tirelessly to improve his skills and build a reputation in the racing world. He started the Sunday meeting in fourth and second place before competing in the final event. He was nominated for a Thoroughbred Industry Employee Award.

‘He was doing his Amateur License next week, he loved everything about the sport and had a great future ahead of him. He would talk about horses and racing all the time, you couldn’t keep him quiet about it. People would say he was like the walking Racing Post. He was so understanding, you never heard him raise his voice. He never had a bad word to say about anyone, everybody loved him.’
