Drake’s father, Dennis Graham, is African-American and a practicing Catholic from Memphis, Tennessee, who worked as a drummer, performing alongside country musician Jerry Lee Lewis.

Drake’s mother, Sandra, is an Ashkenazi Jewish Canadian with roots in Latvia and Poland. She worked as an English teacher and florist. Drake has described himself as “a proud Jew” and has stated that he observes the Jewish holidays.

Drake was raised in Forest Hill, a wealthy neighborhood in Toronto. He attended a Jewish day school, and had a Bar Mitzvah ceremony at age 13. His parents divorced when he was five years old, and he was raised by his mother inToronto’s affluent Forest Hill neighborhood, after his father returned to Memphis.

In an interview with The Fader, Drake mentioned that his mother would tell him stories about his African-American ancestors in the southern states of the U.S., which instilled a sense of pride in him about his heritage. He attended Forest Hill Collegiate Institute, where he demonstrated musical talent and was voted as president of the student council. He later dropped out of school before finishing high school to pursue his music career full-time.

The video for “Falling Back”, the second song on the 14-track album, shows the 35-year-old rapper getting ready for his wedding day with pal Tristan Thompson, who appears to act as his best man.

The video begins with both individuals wearing tuxes, the 31-year-old NBA player providing encouragement to Drake as he walks down the aisle. “You only get married once,” Thompson tells his friend as he straightens out his bowtie.
