Steve and his ex-wife were married for over two decades before getting divorced in 1999. It was reported that they divorced due to a two-year separation but their agents revealed that they had actually been living separate lives for almost four years.
The agents also clarified that there was no third party involved in their split. In July 2019, Steve admitted that his busy work schedule, being on air five days a week for three hours and an additional two hours on Sundays for his pre-recorded Love Songs show, had left him with no time to find a new partner.
