Lele Ruud’s Son, Casper Ruud

Casper Ruud is a Norwegian professional tennis player. He is the son of former WTA player and coach, Lele Ruud. Ruud has a career-high ATP singles ranking of No. 46 achieved on March 30, 2020. He also has a career-high ATP doubles ranking of No. 288 achieved on September 9, 2019. In April 2019, Ruud made his maiden ATP final at the Rio Open, losing to Laslo Djere in straight sets.

In May 2019, Ruud defeated Rafael Nadal in the first round of the Madrid Open before losing to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second round. This was Nadal’s first loss on clay since the 2017 French Open. In September 2019, Ruud defeated then-world No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the Davis Cup to send Norway into the World Group for the first time in their history.


In February 2020, Ruud won his first ATP title at the Argentina Open, defeating Federico Delbonis in the final in straight sets. With this victory, he also entered the top 50 of the ATP rankings for the first time in his career. In March 2020, Ruud reached his second ATP final at the Rio Open, losing to Cristian Garin in three sets.

Ruud has represented Norway at Davis Cup and made his Grand Slam debut at the 2018 Wimbledon Championships. In June 2019, Ruud was awarded the Knighthood 1st Class of the Order of St. Olav by His Majesty The King of Norway for his “outstanding sporting results and his efforts to promote tennis in Norway.”
