Averion Hurts was a football player and coach for the entirety of his youngest son’s life. He is best known as the dad of Jalen Hurts. The same way that Jalen understood the impact his father had on his career, Averion has expressed his pride in his son. He stated,
“It’s a blessing to watch a young man that developed a passion for a sport and really, really worked hard at every level and every turn, Good Morning Football. It’s just something he was obsessed with and it’s really remarkable to see the journey and to be a part of it … It’s humbling as a parent and as a coach.”
Averion started a career as a football coach at MacArthur High School in the Aldine Independent School District in Texas after deciding to pursue his passion for sports.
Who Is Averion Hurts?
In the year 1990, Averion Hurts received his bachelor’s degree in marketing from the university. At Howard Payne University, where Averion Hurts received a scholarship to play football and track. It was there that he had great success, receiving All-Conference honors as a senior offensive tackle and being named to the All-American team in track and field six times.
His ambition to play football at the professional level was ultimately unsuccessful. His career in teaching began in 1994, when he decided to become a teacher.
In the beginning of his career, he worked as a teacher in the Adaptive Behavior Unit at Parkview Intermediate School, which is located inside the Pasadena Independent School District. Averion Hurts holds American nationality.

Averion Hurts’ Wife: Pamela
Averion Hurts is married with Pamela Hurts who also pursued a career in education, as per People. She worked for the Channelview District in Texas, just like her husband did.
She had a bachelor’s degree in business administration as well as a master’s degree in counseling. She was the math special education teacher for grades 6-8 at Anthony Aguirre Junior High, where she also served as the chair of the Special Services Department. It is unknown whether she is still teaching there at the present time.
Couple together have three children. They have two sons named, Averion Jr. and Jalen Hurts. Couple have a daughter named, Kynnedy Hurts. Jalen has professed his love for Kynnedy in public by telling GQ in 2021 that he has put aside $70,000 for her college expenses.
“I haven’t really talked about this one to anybody yet, not even my parents or my sister even. Just in case she needs it in the future, she’s 16 now and she’s going to go to college one day, she’s going to do great things, Just in case she needs it I have $70,000 set aside for her to go to college”
