Chente’s career started as a busker and has since become a cultural icon, recording more than 50 albums and contributing to more than 30 films. His collection consists of rancheras and other Mexican classics, oftentimes being accompanied live by a mariachi group. Fernández’s work earned him three Grammy Awards, eight Latin Grammy Awards, 14 Lo Nuestro Awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

He sold over 50 million copies worldwide, making him one of the best-selling regional Mexican artists of all time. He retired from live performing in 2016; however, he continued to record and publish music thereafter.

What was Vicente Fernández’s cause of death?

The Mexican icon was recently hospitalized after breaking his neck at his home in Guadalajara. The fall resulted in a spinal injury that necessitated urgent surgical intervention.

Following surgery, Chente was reportedly transferred to the ICU and required neck surgery. After the operation, physicians claimed that the singer required intensive care and had to be sedated. He experienced a variety of health problems before dying.

The legendary figure had been battling Guillain-Barré syndrome, needed liver surgery for a tumor, undergone three herniorrhaphy procedures, and even gone through pulmonary thrombosis before succumbing to his ranch’s collapse last year.
