During the pandemic lockdown in 2020, Tim Davis had suggested the idea of creating videos to his mum. He helped shoot and edit each of her “Cooking with Lynja” videos since 2020. In 2022, “Cooking with Lynja” won “Best Food” and “Best Editing” at the 12th Streamy Awards.

Tim Davis’ mother, Lynja passed away on January 1, 2024 in Riverbank, N.J at the age of 67. She was third-generation Japanese-American. In 1977, she graduated with a degree in civil engineering from MIT.
She was an employee of the federal government who oversaw efforts to make government facilities more accessible. She continued her education at Columbia Business School, where she received degrees in both public health and business administration. She died after long battle from cancer. Her son wrote on Instagram,
“The final chapter my mom wrote had everything she could have ever wanted: the time of her life cooking, meeting great people, eating incredible food, traveling to amazing places, and most importantly to her, bringing joy to people everywhere. All with her youngest son, my brother, the creative genius that helped bring it all together. There’s that saying “never meet your heroes”.
