She is the high school sweetheart of George. Couple eloped in Mexico on December 4, 1971, shortly before George enlisted in the U.S. Army and shipped off to Hawaii.
They were married in a tiny church ceremony in Pearsall, Texas, the place where they both went to high school. Their first child, Jenifer, was born on October 6, 1972. Their son, George Harvey Strait Jr., known as “Bubba”, was born in 1981. Couple celebrated their marriage anniversary recently,
“Norma and I are so blessed that we found each other…and were able to do all of this together, experience this life together, to support each other through everything, good times and bad. We love each other and we still like each other. A lot!”
Norma’s daughter Jenifer killed in an accident
Jenifer Strait was born on October 6, 1972 in Poteet, Texas, U.S. On June 25, 1986, Jenifer, being 13 years old, lost her life in a car accident in San Marcos.
The Strait family established the Jenifer Lyn Strait Foundation which provides funding to San Antonio-area children’s charities. In memory of their beloved daughter, the foundation has donated over $100,000 to various organizations that support the well-being of children in need.
The Strait family’s devotion to helping others in Jenifer’s honor has made a lasting impact on the community and continues to inspire others to give back. Through their largesse, Jenifer’s spirit lives on bringing hope and support to those who need it most.

Who Is George Strait Jr.?
George Strait Jr., a Texas A&M graduate used to compete in team-roping as a PRCA competitor. Strait was able to watch his son compete at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in 2006 shortly before taking the stage for his own performance.
