Giovanna Battaglia Engelbert is best known as the director of ‘The Swarovski Group’s Global Creative’. She was raised in Milan, where her mother teaches sculpture and is an artist at the Brera Fine Arts Academy.
When she was in her late teens, she started modeling for Dolce and Gabbana. However, she quit catwalk modeling to focus on her career as a stylist.
After serving as a stylist for Pig fashion magazine, Anna Dello Russo—then serving as Vogue’s fashion editor—appointed her.Before the two collaborated to run Vogue Gioiello and Vogue Pelle, Engelbert worked for Italian Vogue under renowned editor Franca Sozzani.
She wed the real estate developer Oscar Engelbert in Capri in 2016. Talitha Italia Engelbert, the couple’s daughter, was born in 2019.
The family is based in Stockholm. Elvira Engelbert, her second daughter, was born in 2006 prior to the couple’s marriage. One of Engelbert’s four siblings is Sara Battaglia, a designer. Engelbert will receive a promotion and be named the Global Creative Director of Swarovski Group in 2020.
This will make him the first person to hold this title in the 125-year history of the company. In 2016, Engelbert started serving as the B2B division’s creative director for glass manufacturer and jeweler Swarovski.
During this time, Engelbert also introduced two book titles for the business: the Swarovski Book of Dreams Vol. I, which was released in September 2018, and the second volume of the same title, which was released in February 2019.
