Rubin’s husband, David Ruben, was born on June 20, 1988. He was raised as a devout Jew and has one brother and one sister. Before graduating from high school, David Janet worked at Aronson & Company as an administrative assistant and receptionist.
After graduating from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism with a Master of Science in Media Studies, he began his professional career as an editorial assistant at Golf Digest magazine in the fall of 2015. He worked as a copy editor and writer there before moving to New York City in order to work for Sirius XM Radio Inc. It was there, after all, that he got his start in show-production production.
In December 2012, David Janet departed Sirius and returned to Los Angeles to work as an executive producer for TYT Network. He previously worked at RYOT and Ora TV in a similar capacity, and has since February 2013 served as the Rubin Report’s senior vice president of operations.

During an interview with writer-performer Kelly Carlin, Rubin said he proposed to David Janet during a Fleetwood Mac performance in Los Angeles in early December. On his birthday, June 26, 2009, David met his husband Rubin. They were both in New York for gay pride. Rubin claims he was hosting a radio program and a meet and greet at the rear of Cowgirl in the West Village. He was instantly drawn to the young man from Pennsylvania University.
