On July 21, the House January 6 committee released security footage of Josh Hawley fleeing for his life after demonstrators entered the US Capitol. Elaine Luria, a Democratic representative from Virginia’s 7th District, played the clip after displaying a photo of Hawley brandishing his fist to protestors outside the building earlier that morning.
Ms Luria said: “Senator Josh Hawley also had to flee. Earlier that afternoon, before the joint session started, he walked across the east front of the Capitol.” A number of social media users had a field day with the footage and were quick to share their reactions on Twitter.
