Mish Michaels was an American broadcast meteorologist, environmental reporter, and author. She began her career in broadcasting as a news anchor and reporter in Boston, Massachusetts. She later became a weather anchor and reporter for WHDH-TV. In 2006, Michaels left television to pursue her passion for environmental reporting and writing.
Michaels was the author of two books, “The Climate Challenge: 101 Solutions to Global Warming” (Rodale Books, 2007) and “Cool Kids: How to Help Your Child Survive the Environmental Crisis” (Beacon Press, 2009).

Michaels was born in Kolkata, India. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and a Master’s Degree in Technology from Harvard University. Michaels served as a meteorologist for The Weather Channel and WHDH.
She previously worked at WMUR-TV in Manchester, New Hampshire. In September 2001, she joined the WBZ-TV weather crew and departed in July 2009. She spent time caring for her children and writing books on her own time after departing WBZ-TV.
In late 2010, she told her tale of a deadly microburst in Stratham, New Hampshire, in 1991 for Josh Judge’s book Extreme New England Weather. On January 31, 2017, Michaels revealed on Twitter that she had joined the WGBH crew as a science reporter.

Mish Michaels was just the latest in a line of individuals who have been let go from their jobs for expressing doubts about man-made climate change. As of February 8, 2017, she has been dismissed from her position because she “has been outspoken in her controversial belief that vaccines cause autism…” as well as a disbelief in man-made global warming.
Michaels later denied these allegations on her personal website. Her relatives revealed her passing during the week of March 16, 2022. There was no mention of a cause of death. Michaels was 53 years old.

Mish Michaels passed away suddenly, leaving behind a husband and child. She was survived by her daughter, aunt, and a slew of friends. Her cause of death has yet to be released, but she leaves behind a spouse and child.
“Mish was so many things to so many people. A brilliant meteorologist. A dear friend. A loving wife and mother. She was one of those rare human beings that excelled at everything she did,” Michael’s friend and CBS Boston colleague Terry Eliasen wrote.
“For those that didn’t know her, I feel I cannot possibly portray just how amazingly brilliant she was.” She began her career as a weather forecaster at WMUR in Manchester, New Hampshire, before moving on to become famous as a household name when she worked at WHDH in Boston from 2001 to 2009.
