Anna Horford, the sister of Celtics star Al Horford, has continued her war of words with the city of Philadelphia and its sports fans. Horford was referring to the incident in which Eagles fans set fire to a police car and flipped over an SUV after their team won the Super Bowl in February.
“All these Philly fans are coming at me and I’m just like, what have you done for your city?” Horford told Boston radio station 98.5 The Sports Hub on Tuesday night. “What have you done? You guys burn cars when your team wins a playoff game. That’s all you do. I just don’t understand the mentality,” Horford continued. “It’s just like, what are you doing? What are you accomplishing? You’re ruining your own city.”

When Al was traded away from the Sixers in 2020, his sister tweeted that those fans were the “most miserable” in the NBA, and said, “Some of you guys were cool, but to the rest, f–k off.”
Anna called out her brother, Al, on Thursday, with the Celtics’ success and Boston on the verge of making this year’s NBA Finals. “Al doesn’t want to be recognized for his achievements; however, I’d want to see him receive his flowers,” she wrote on Twitter. His consistency & leadership have driven this team forward, she added in another post.
“He’s been crucial to the Cs at nearly 36 years old. Just because he’s quiet about his success doesn’t imply it should be overlooked.” When a Sixers fan stated that Anna’s brother was a “flaming hot pile of garbage in Philadelphia,” she responded, pointing the finger back toward her.
“Maybe your city should start trying to love & inspire their players instead of trashing them & their families. You guys have been home for a while now… Enjoy your vacation & regroup,” she tweeted.
Regardless of whether the Sixers win three out of four games, they will have to compete against the Heat in Miami for their second round matchup. The Miami Heat holds a 3-2 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals and will face Boston on Friday night for Game 6.
