Mayim Bialik is an American actress, game show host, and author. She was a child star who appeared in the film The Miracle of Bernadette in 1978, as well as several other films and TV series. From 1991 to 1995, she played Blossom, the title character of the NBC series. From 2010 to 2019, she starred as neuroscientist Amy Farrah Fowler on The Big Bang Theory for CBS, for which she was nominated four times for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and won the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2015 and 2017.

Barry Bialik: Mayim Bialik’s Father, Dies at 68
Barry Bialik, the father of actress and neuroscientist Mayim Bialik, died on Tuesday at the age of 68. The cause of death was not immediately known. Bialik is survived by his wife, two sons, and four grandchildren. Mayim Bialik posted a tribute to her father on Instagram, writing, “My dad was my sunshine. He lit up every room he entered,” she continued. “He was so funny and so smart and so kind. I will miss him every single day of my life,” she concluded. “Rest in peace, Dad. I love you.”
Barry Bialik was born in 1952 and raised in the Bronx, New York. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Brooklyn College. He worked as an accountant for a few years before becoming a stay-at-home dad when Mayim was born. He later returned to work as a real estate developer. In addition to Mayim, Barry Bialik is survived by his sons, Asher and Jonah. His funeral will be held on Thursday in Los Angeles.

Bialik attended Walter Reed Junior High School and graduated from North Hollywood High School in 1987. She then enrolled at UCLA, majoring in neuroscience (with a concentration in Hebrew studies) and Judaism, intending to become a rabbi. During her time at UCLA she took part in the musical Tzeitel in Fiddler on the Roof.
