Maria do Socorro Azevedo recently appeared on a TV show in Brazil where she openly talked about her belief that she is the daughter of the renowned footballer, Pele. During her interview, she stated that her intention behind coming forward with this information was not to gain any financial benefits from him.
According to Maria, her late mother had never informed Pele about her pregnancy that came from their brief relationship in Sao Luis, located in the state of Maranhao, Brazil.

Maria do Socorro Azevedo is from the state of Piaui in north-east Brazil. In 2019, while working as a maid in Sao Paulo, she made the decision to undergo a DNA test. Pele divided his estate among his family members. His widow, Marica Aoki received 30% of it while his children got 60% to share among themselves. Two of his grandchildren received 10% each.
